Company profile Bayer - Science For A Better Life Bayer is an international company operating in three major fields: healthcare, crop protection science and highly specialist materials. The goal of Bayer products and services is to benefit people and improve their life quality. At the same time, Bayer increases it value through innovations, growth and high outcome assurance. As a socially aware company Bayer Group obeys the rules of balanced development. Economics, ecology and social responsibility are all equal priorities in the company policy. In 2008 tax year, Bayer has been employing 108 600 people with sales reaching the amount of 32,9 bil. €. The investment expenses amounted to 2 bil. € with additional 2,7 bil. € spent on research and development. Challenges The growing number of different ventures, increasing product portfolio and market position empowerment has all led to a greater number of services and solutions suppliers. Most of the transactions with Bayer suppliers were conducted using either paper or electronic invoices in various formats. Through a complex integration and validation the data was entered in to the accounting system. Although sufficient this method has not been very effective. It allowed to model business rules and Polish law requirements. Bayer has decided to improve its business processes and create an efficient platform to manage the billing of company services and solutions suppliers. After the presentation of a reliable integration concept and long term project the ITMAGINATION has been entrusted with a task of delivering such a solution.
|
Solution The main challenge in the project was to create mechanisms to automatically import the issued invoices and integrate data originating from service suppliers in the following fields:
The solution proposed by ITMAGINATION is based on two layers:
As a result the complete data automatically passes the accounting process and is entered into the finance system. „Risk mitigation, performance and effectiveness growth are just some of many business process automation benefits. We can already see the savings and results coming from this solution.”
„One of the several benefits is the access to reliable information. For example system indicates how much of the VAT limit has been utilized in the leasing process. Moreover we receive an automatic alert whenever this limit is about to reach the value permitted by Polish law. It allows avoiding mistakes and saving precious time.”
„Low costs of extending the platform with additional business areas create a good baseline for automating subsequent processes in close future”
